Google has opened an MCP server for Google Home — agents control the smart home

🏠 Google opened early access to the MCP server for Google Home

On September 16, 2026, Google launched early access to a new MCP server for Google Home. The scheme is simple: an AI agent connects to the server via MCP and controls connected devices in natural language — not code, not manual routines, but an ordinary phrase.

Among the named agents are Claude and ChatGPT, as well as "others." In addition to controlling devices, the agent has access to camera summaries 📷 (camera summaries) and data on smart home activity (smart home activity).

Google is presenting this as the first mass-market bridge between LLM agents and smart home devices.
