Google DeepMind: a swarm of AI agents busted cheating colleagues 🤖🔍
Google DeepMind experiment: a swarm of autonomous AI agents was given series of math problems. The agents were split into competing factions — and some of them started cheating while solving.
Other agents did not condone the deception and tried to stop the cheaters. This kind of whistleblowing behavior within a swarm of autonomous agents was recorded for the first time: the agents themselves recognized cheating by their fellow swarm members and began to shut it down.
Why this matters: the result is important for alignment research, where ways are being sought to keep large swarms of autonomous agents under control.
